Overview
Shiga Kogen is Japan's largest ski resort area, offering a vast winter playground with 18 interconnected ski resorts all accessible with the one lift pass. The resort’s high altitude ensures excellent snow conditions throughout the season, and with over 80 kilometers of courses and 70 lifts, there's something for every skier and snowboarder. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced rider, Shiga Kogen provides endless terrain to explore. This trip also includes an optional visit to see the famous snow monkeys soaking in hot springs, free ski/snowboard lessons and a fun xmas event with party games on the Saturday night.
Shiga Kogen boasts a unique advantage with its inter-connected slopes across both the northern and southern zones, offering seamless access to a massive ski area. Unlike other resorts where terrain is fragmented, Shiga Kogen lets you easily explore different areas. With a variety of trails from wide groomers to off-piste tree runs, there’s something for everyone, including those looking for fresh powder without the competition seen at other popular Nagano resorts.
Our hotel is only a 2min walk / ski from the lifts and also features a 24hour, 100% natural onsen (hot spring). On Saturday night after dinner, we will hold a fun xmas party featuring a bar, music and mini-olympics style party games with prizes. On Sunday you can choose to join our Snow Monkey tour (fees are included), or spend another day skiing/boarding Shiga Kogen. You can also fit in a half day skiing/boarding in the afternoon after the snow monkeys if you are keen.

It was my first time seeing snow and this trip made it an amazing and a memorable experience!. The instructors were very good and patient with us and helped us a lot during the beginners course. Even sudden emergencies were handled very professionally and efficiently and I had one of the best times ever here! It was amazing!

Perfect timing for powder snow. Hotel was old Japanese style, food is decent. Easy access to Alpina rental and gondola right next to it.
Very good weekend! Conditions were pretty good. Shiga resort is quite big and have runs for all kind of levels, including some tree runs. And as always, the staff super friendly and helpful

Another wonderful Christmas weekend! Staff as always were super helpful. One of the staff was a sage Rubix cube master, he served me mulled red wine. What an experience. The hotel itself is very budget hotel but has everything you need for a wonderful weekend including food, great onsen, warm room, and a large equipment room downstairs. Great access to the whole area. I’ve found that even early in the season there is always somewhere to go and using nearby yamanoeki you can go by free shuttle anywhere. I had fun making friends and the vibe was great! I plan to go every year I can on this particular trip.

Great trip with everything covered, from hotel/food/attractions etc. Everything was really efficient in regards to rentals and gear, like having us try them on the night before so there was no hustle for that in the morning. I also really appreciated the late check out (1PM). It's not very often you're able to sleep in on a trip so that was a great breather after two days of snowboarding! Would like to go again and would definitely recommend to friends.
