Overview

Niijima is a part of the Izu islands, located 160km from the Tokyo port. The island is famous for its sandy white beaches and turquoise waters which are ideal for surfing, snorkeling and swimming. The Niijima campground is very picturesque, located at the base of a small mountain and surrounded by green leafy trees only a short walk from the beach. The trip includes rental cycles so we can explore the island. Lots to see and do (free hot springs, hidden beaches and lots more) or just relax on the beach.

We will be taking the large passenger ferry to the island, departing Friday night and returning Sunday evening on the super fast Jet ferry around 18:00. The ferry ride itself is lots of fun as we can hang out on any of the multi-level decks to enjoy the views as well as having our own reserved spaces in rooms on board. Great night light views leaving Tokyo on Friday and then incredible ocean scenery while cruising back home through the islands.

The Plan

21:30 :
Meet at Takeshiba Terminal (near JR Hamamatsucho Station)
22:00 :
Ferry departs from Tokyo. Relax or party on the deck as the ferry cruises under the rainbow bridge and out of Tokyo bay. Sleep on your reserved reclining chair or on one of the many deck areas throughout the ferry.

08:00 :
Arrive at Niijima. Pick up our rental bikes. Cycle to the Campground. Set up camp.
09:00 ~ 17:00 :
Fun exploring the island! Sunbaking, swimming, surfing, snorkeling, diving, cycling, beach volleyball, hiking, hot springs, relaxing!
17:00 :
Gourmet BBQ & group party until late at the campground

07:30 ~ 14:00 :
Breakfast at the campground then free time: Sunbaking, swimming, surfing, snorkeling, diving, cycling, hiking, hot springs, relaxing!
15:00 ~ 17:30 :
Catch the super fast Jet Foil ferry back to Tokyo.

Oh man, what can I say? This trip was amazing! the island is so beautiful, the onsen, so many wild beaches, supermarket, nice places to have lunch/coffee, riding bicycle. Also the staff as usual, always super helpful and provides everything that makes everything so easy. Totally recommended!

I snorkeled on the beach next to the ferry port. Even though it's shallow water, I could see sea bream, crab, sea urchin, brow fish and other beautiful fishes. The organizers were kind, caring and hardworking. I'll definitely join next year Thank you！！

The wind was so strong that we encountered many unexpected situations, but overall, it was an unforgettable trip. The open-air hot spring by the sea was fantastic—we went every night, staying for a long time each time, watching the white waves, listening to the sound of the ocean, gazing at the stars, and chatting with good friends. It was absolutely amazing!
